Shirley Wilhelm
Hatch, Utah
Shirley Amelia Wilhelm, age 86, passed away April 3, 2022, at Garfield Memorial LTC. She was born November 28, 1935 in Hatch, Utah. From birth Shirley was the pride and joy of Orson H. and Maggie Sanders Barnhurst and her 4 brothers. Shirley was so proud of her heritage, her faith, her country and especially the town of Hatch. She attended her early years of school in the old Hatch schoolhouse and her later years in Panguitch.
When she was a young wife and mother, she moved to Henderson, Nevada. She would go on to live in that area and add to her family for many years. But the beauty of Hatch called her back home.
She loved the Lord and loved serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She had many callings but was much loved as the coolest Young Women's leader, Primary teacher with gummy bears and a visiting teacher with service in her heart. She was also a devoted mom and grandmother.
Shirley is survived by her son, Dell F. Woodard; daughters: Shelley (Merrill) Burrows, Shawna Hatch, Monica (Kenney) Brunson; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Alvin L. Wilhelm; brothers: Dallas S.; Merlin S. (Jean), Bert W. (Verna), Melvin O. (Pat) and Austin J. (Marie) Barnhurst; daughter Coral W. Cole; granddaughter Jamie Woodard; and former spouse Jack F. Woodard.
Shirley's family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff at Garfield Memorial Hospital and Long Term Care for their loving and attentive care. Her last days were filled with so much love and tenderness.
