Mark Gordon Berthelson passed away November 17, 2021 in Visalia, California. Mark was born in Torrence, CA to Ralph Gordon and Carol Zelaine Dunn Berthelson on February 9, 1965. He is the brother to Paul Ralph Berthelson and Linda Deniece Dumont. He grew up in Richfield, Utah and graduated from Richfield High School in 1983. He served in the Saint Louis Missouri mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married Janice Lee Bagley in the Manti Temple on December 21, 1987. They have eight children: Lara Lee Hender (Mark), Butte MT; Mark Adam Berthelson (deceased), Natalie Marie Green (Jake), Garden City, KS; Andrew Edward Berthelson (Madey), Abilene TX; Camille Dee Robinson (Carter), Cedar City, UT; Emma Dawn, Rachel Ann, Sarah Elisabeth, all of Atwater, California. Mark also has two grandchildren from Marie; Henry Adam, and Elsie Mae.
Mark graduated in Electrical Automation from UVCC in 1992. He received his bachelor degree from UVSC in 2002 in Technology Management. He graduated with his Masters degree in Social Management from Ashford University in 2020. He started his career at Stouffer's/Nestle in Springville, UT. He went on to work for them in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was employed by Specialty Brand Foods in ABQ, NM, Windsor Foods in Lampasas Texas, Saralee Bakery in ABQ, NM, Windsor Foods and resided in Senatobia Mississippi, Pacific Cheese in Reno, NV, Gallo Farms Cheese and resided in Merced, CA. Associated Packaging while residing in Atwater, CA.
He served as a seminary teacher in Sparks, NV. He served in the bishopric with Danton Bean and Josh Poduska in Rio Rancho NM. He also served in the bishopric with Bob Chevalier and Juan Quintana in Atwater, CA. He was currently serving as bishop of the Atwater Ward. Mark followed the Lord’s call all around the country over the years. He got to teach his children by the example of his service, making lifelong friends in every state he went to. Mark loved his family and he loved the Lord. He wanted to have a family and loved and supported them throughout his entire life. His focus was and our family’s focus will always be on the temple. He frequented the temple often and inspired others to follow his Savior Jesus Christ as he did.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 12:00 Noon in the Yosemite LDS Ward, 1080 E. Yosemite Avenue in Merced, CA, where friends may call after 11:00 a.m. A celebration of life will be held Monday, December 6, 2021 at 12:00 Noon in the Magleby Mortuary, 50 South 100 West, Richfield Utah, where friends may call from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m.. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
