Craig Barney

Craig L. Barney passed away peacefully on March 5, 2022 in St. George, Utah. He was 71 years old. A husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and son. He lived a wonderful life of service to his family and his Heavenly Father. Craig was born on April 19, 1950 in Provo, Utah to Layton R. and Floriene Barton Barney. He was the second child of four. He had three sisters.
After graduating from Panguitch High School, Craig served a mission to the Eastern States. He then went to Utah State University in Logan where he graduated in 1980. While attending USU, he met his sweetheart, Terry Marie Rupp. They were married September 15, 1972 in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Logan for a few years and then moved to Hatch where they made their life long home. They have seven sons, seven daughters-in-law and 31 grandchildren who are the joy of their lives.
Craig taught school at Panguitch Elementary for many years. He taught 5th and 6th grades. He was an excellent teacher and touched many lives. He loved seeing his students after they moved on and visiting with them about their lives.
He served in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a bishop, counselor, Scout leader, High Council member and temple worker.
Craig loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, camping, and fishing, especially with his family.
Craig is survived by his wife, Terry; sons: Ryan (Kara), Mark (Mckel), Tyler (Kristen), Jeff (Jenny), Jason (Andrea), Scott (Megan), and Andy (Kaylie); sisters: JoAnn (Don) Ipson, Joyce (Vic) Gordon, and Doris (Spencer) Hawkins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hatch Ward Chapel, where friends may call from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Hatch Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
