Larry Jensen

Ephraim, UT

Our kind, loving, caring, and compassionate husband, father, brother, uncle and dear friend, Larry Morris Jensen, passed away peacefully, in Nephi, Utah, surrounded by his family on Sunday, July, 10 2016.

He was born August 17, 1946 in Manti to Morris and Elma Jensen. He was raised in Ephraim with his three sisters, Judy Fowles, Vancouver, WA; Marilyn Jensen, and Merlene (Ellis) Peterson, both of Ephraim.

He married the love of his life, Pat Downard, on June 26, 1971 in Spring City. Together they had two children: Angela (Jason) Johnson and Jeff (Deziree) Jensen. He lived for his family and absolutely adored his grandchildren, Rhett, Noah, Isabella, and Beau Johnson and Leif Jensen.

He worked as a federal food inspector where he traveled the western states for nine years until he built and opened his own mechanic and welding shop in Ephraim, where he built a machine to specialize in making and repairing driveshafts. He was very inventive and capable of building anything he put his mind to. He was a very quiet and humble man, without pretenses or judgement, so not many people know that he was a very well-read philosopher, scientist, mathematician and free thinker who taught his children the value of independent thought.

His heart was in the mountains. He was the first one up there in the spring and the last one down in the fall in his prized 1942 Willys Jeep. In the mountains was where he was able to find some peace.

He is survived by his wife, children, sisters, grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at Magleby Mortuary in Manti on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a viewing prior to services from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Spring City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
