Beloved husband, father, and brother, John Andrew Hansen, 63, was called home to his Father in Heaven on April 5, 2020 in Bountiful. He has found peace after a 3 year struggle with kidney failure. The first son of Melvin and Nona Mortensen Hansen, John was born November 6, 1956 in Richfield, he grew up on a farm on the outskirts of Monroe, Utah. He was raised with a love of his church, farming, and education. After graduating from South Sevier High School, where he played football, John was called on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to preach to and serve the people of Taiwan. There he would develop a love for the language and peoples of Taiwan and China that would last the rest of his life.
After returning from his mission, John attended Snow College before completing his education with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Utah State University. He then began his career as an engineer.
On June 28, 1990 he married Trudy Anne Russon in the Logan, Utah Temple. They built a loving family in Woods Cross, Utah. There he would serve his church in a variety of roles including, councilor in a bishopric, member of the stake high council and stake Sunday school president. During the later years of his life, he would return a grocery store to his much loved childhood town of Monroe that still operates today.
John was a noted and well respected reliability engineer who bettered the lives of many while working for companies such as GE Healthcare, ATK, and Cardiac Science. He would also run a consulting firm for a short period of time.
John is survived by his wife, Trudy; daughter, Sarah Anne Hansen, sons, Andrew Brown (Melinda Joyce) Hansen, Peter Melvin Hansen, and John Daniel Hansen. He is also survived by his siblings, Jeannine (Milo) Hadlock, Sharleen Hansen, Mary Lou Hansen, Elaine (Jeff) Hansen, and Chris (Katherine) Hansen. Preceded in death by his parents; and his sister Terri Hansen Willis.
Private family graveside services will be held Saturday, April 11, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the Monroe City Cemetery.
