Zelta Rose Nebeker

February 4, 1919 — April 13, 2022

Zelta Nebeker
Annabella, Utah

Zelta Rose Prows Nebeker, 103, passed away April 13, 2022 in Farmington.  She was born February 4, 1919, in Salt Lake City to Ann Budd and Charles Prows.  Due to the Spanish Flu outbreak, she was the only one of six siblings to be born in a hospital.  Zelta grew up in the Rose Park area on 5th West where she enjoyed playing kick the can on the street stopping only for an occasional car to pass by.   Zelta graduated from West High in 1937.  She later married Earnest "Earl" Gool on March 22, 1939, and had two daughters: Janice and Joyce.

Zelta worked as a telephone switchboard operator for many years in the 1940's and 1950's in Grisham, Oregon, Salt Lake City, Farmington and Bountiful, Utah as well as Hamilton, Montana.  She would ask "number please" and then plug in the switch to connect the call.  She shared many of those stories with her grandchildren.  She and Earl bought a ranch in Hamilton, Montana where they enjoyed raising cattle, hay, and a large garden.  Zelta’s talents included gardening, sewing, painting, and a love for animals.

Zelta later married Ernest F. Peterson on September 21, 1977, in the Provo Temple.  He preceded her in death on September 30, 1983.  She then married Dale C. Nebeker on January 12, 1990.  He preceded her in death on August 22, 2011.  Zelta is also preceded in death by her siblings: Wilma, Glenda, George, Vernon, and Eugene; son-in-law, Dennis Hammer.

Zelta is survived by her two daughters, Janice Hammer and Joyce (Dean) Williams; her 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Country Care Assisted Living for her care since June of 2017 where she was truly loved.
