Bruce Jones

William Bruce Jones passed away Friday, May 15, 2015, in Richfield, Utah, at the age of 75, with his devoted wife and children at his side. He was born March 10, 1940, in Logan, Utah, to John C. and La Rue Jenkins Jones.
Bruce grew up in Newton, Utah and graduated from North Cache High School, in 1958. During his youth he enjoyed working with his father on cars, he was known for his adventurous driving and a desire for fast cars. He continued his education at Utah State University, earning his Bachelor of Science in secondary education in 1966. He married his eternal sweetheart, Verleen Jones, on March 2, 1962 in the Logan LDS Temple. They have enjoyed 53 great years. He served in many capacities in the LDS Church including Sunday School secretary and High Priest.
Bruce taught school in Monticello and Brigham City before relocating to the Sevier valley. His next adventure began with the purchase of the Sevier Café, where he and Verleen worked side by side. After a short stent working at Pearson Tire he joined his SUFCo family at Salina where he worked for 26 years and created the best of lifelong friends and memories.
Bruce had always been a classic car enthusiast. He was a member of Central Utah Rods and Relics Car Club. He shared that love with his son. He also loved working on many projects. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt, fish, shed hunt, hike, and anything outdoors. He loved to walk for miles. Hunting was a family obsession.
Bruce is well known for his quick wit and quirky comments.
He is survived by his wife and children: Tamera (Blair) Jacobson, Michele (Steve) Monroe, and Michael (Robyn) Jones; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; siblings: Wilford (Barbara) Jones, Marlene (John) Wiser, David (Florence) Jones.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at 11:00 am in the Joseph Ward LDS Chapel, 75 North Center Street in Elsinore. Friends may call Tuesday at the Mag leby Mortuary in Richfield, from 6-8 pm and Wednesday at the ward chapel in Elsinore from 9 – 10:30 am. Burial will be in the Joseph Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
