W. LaRell Roberts
Monroe, Utah
Wilburn LaRell Roberts, 84, of Monroe, Utah passed away peacefully in his home, September 22, 2024. He was born February 28, 1940 in Salina, Utah to Garth G. and Ilene H. Roberts and grew up in Antimony, Utah. He married Sherey Jensen Roberts on December 29, 1961 in Junction, UT. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 30, 1967.
LaRell is a graduate of Piute High School where he held the 100 yard dash record for many years, however, was one of the unfortunate who walked to and from school barefoot, uphill in the snow every day; or so he said.
LaRell became a Journeyman Ironworker and helped build many hospitals, schools, bridges, and hotels in the Salt Lake area and later graduated from Salt Lake Community College with a degree in business.
He was a great outdoorsman and was never happier than when he was in his beloved mountains camping with family. He taught his kids and grandkids how to fish, hunt, shoot, work hard, and give pat-pats. Nieces and nephews affectionately called him Uncle Fiddlesticks and also benefited from his hunting prowess. He was an expert guide for family and friends especially on ATV roads and trails around the mountains of Antimony.
LaRell was always around horses and enjoyed raising and training them while living in Elk Ridge, UT and in Junction, UT. LaRell was a quiet, gentle, cowboy who is held in high esteem by his children and grandchildren for his willingness to listen and not pass judgment. When he had something to say, it was worth listening to. His wisdom and unconditional love will be deeply missed.
LaRell is survived by his children; Kerry L. Roberts, Monroe; Sheriece (Thayne) Lyman, Mesa, AZ; Cindy (Jason) Winter, Enoch, UT; eight grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren; siblings, Elaine (Nate) Tebbs, Richfield; Ken (Valeene) Roberts, Antimony; Darlene Evans, Panguitch; and Kim (Scott) Adams, Annabella; brother in-law, Juel J. Jensen; sister in-law, Afton N. Jensen.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sherey Jensen Roberts; his brothers, G. Lavere Roberts and Keith L. Roberts, and parents Garth G. and Ilene H. Roberts.
The family would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to the staff at Gunnison Valley Homecare and Hospice for all of their care and thoughtful kindnesses to our sweet father and family.
