Wilbern Nephi Spears II

February 11, 1965 — December 23, 2021

Nephi Spears
Richfield, Utah

Wilbern Nephi Spears II passed away December 23, 2021 in Provo, Utah following a battle with pneumonia that was coupled with a hole in his lung and diabetes.  He was born February 11, 1965 in Kingman, AZ. The only boy with two older sisters and later one younger sister. Nephi, as he was known, always made his birthday more about his mother than about him since he had been a hard birth.

Nephi was raised in Kingman by his parents. Keeping them constantly on their toes. When Nephi got older he served a mission in France, where he fell in love with the language, the culture and the people. He loved his time in France and many years later returned there with the love of his life.

Nephi was dad to four children and papa to 15 grandchildren. He loved his family and took great pride in their accomplishments, attending softball games, football games, dance recitals, graduations, and every event that came around and always ready with a camera to capture the moment.

Nephi took the time to teach his children and grandchildren whenever he had the chance, teaching one grandson at an early age about Newton's Laws and how stars are formed. An avid artist, he also taught another grandson tricks and concepts of drawing. He taught his kids and grandkids to shoot, be self-sufficient and always do their best.  Always ready to hold a baby, hum a lullaby or just rock, he had an amazing talent for putting even the grouchiest child to sleep.

Nephi was a fierce protector of his family and would do anything for them. He always had a listening ear, a kind word or a needed piece of advice. His love for the world around was infectious. Driving truck gave him ample opportunity to enjoy nature and the world around him. Constantly taking pictures and sharing his favorites with those he loved.

Nephi had many friends all over the world and losing him has left a hole in many hearts. Many of us will miss the late night phone calls, the big hugs and the huge heart that was Nephi.

Nephi is survived by his 4 children: Maigan (John) Biederman, Kylen (Kendra) Spears, Kimberly Spears, Gavin Spears; grandchildren: Noah, Gabrial, Grason, Olivia, Malik Biederman, Colton Alveraz, Raistlin, Tanthaluis, Tyrone Spears, Layna Kimber, MaKayla Reynolds, James Slater, Emma Robertson, Bobby Alvarez, Chase Jackson; also the love of his life and co-parent Allison Lee; sisters: Telitha (Edward) Anderson, Clara (Kylie) Roos; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Wilbern Nephi and Carol Spears; sister, Mary Ellen Spears; and grandparents.
