Weldo "Wally" Lay, 93, passed away January 16, 2012 in Richfield. He was born December 10, 1918 in Thompsonville, Utah to William Harvey and Mary Ellen Porter Lay. He married Vivian Leavitt October 17, 1938 in Richfield. They lived in Thompsonville all their lives and raised four children.
Dad was always a farmer and our "cowboy". He always made friends wherever he went.
He served in the Merchant Marines in World War II and was honorable discharged.
Wally is survived by his wife, Vivian; sons, Leland Harvey (Sandra), St. George; Davy (Holly), Annabella; Darwin (Theresa), Thompsonville; and daughter, Connie (Don) Greenbaum, Monroe; 19 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild with two more on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William Enneth, Lynn, Coleman, Harvey, Basil, Taylor, and Drexel; sisters; Leola, Wilma, Vera, Virginia, Roxie and Mary Ellen.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 20, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Marysvale Ward Chapel, 432 West Bullion. Friends may call Thursday evening at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield from 6-8 p.m. and Friday morning at the ward chapel in Marysvale from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Thompsonville Cemetery with military rites by the V.F.W. Piute Post #7561. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
