Wayne G Bennett, 81, passed away March 30, 2024 in Washington, Utah. He was born August 4, 1942, in Fillmore, Utah to Joseph Garr Bennett and Voris McKee, then was raised in Holden. At the age of 17, he joined the Navy, serving for several years to support his family. Wayne won his first date with his sweetheart Tana Huntsman in a poker game. The two were married on September 4, 1964, in Aurora; the marriage was solemnized on August 4, 1993, in the Manti Utah temple. Wayne retired from the Sufco Coal Mine after thirty-seven years of hard work and service. He loved fishing, camping, hunting and most importantly spending time with family. Wayne loved shooting trap and sporting clays. He served at the Sevier Valley Gun Club and left a legacy of Round Robin Tournaments enjoyed by his children and grandchildren. During retirement, he loved keeping a beautiful yard and garden. He enjoyed ATV rides and many hours in the gym or at the ball field supporting his grandchildren.. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Tana; children: Tracie Bennett, Debra (Jeff) Sorensen, Raylan (Michelle) Bennett; grandchildren: Rowdy (April) Sorensen, Megan Sorensen, Dakota Sorensen, Karlee (Jake) Brown, Madison (Drew) Jones and Greyson Bennett; great-grandchildren: Reegan Sorensen and Baby Brown (September 2024); sister Sharlene (Roger) McCarney; brothers-in-law: Leo Mayer, Lynn (Ronda) Huntsman, Shane (Janet) Huntsman, Lee (Lisa) Huntsman; bonus sister: Mary Ann Murphy. Preceded in death by his parents; son, Scott Garr Bennett; siblings: Dea Mayer and Scott Bennett; in-laws, Guy and Ila Huntsman. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Aurora 1st Ward. Viewings will be held Thursday evening from 6-7 p.m. or Friday morning from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the church in Aurora. Burial will be in the Aurora City cemetery with military honors by the V.F.W.
