Wana Faye Smith
Monroe, Utah
Loving wife, mother, and grandmother Wana Faye Johnson Smith, 75, passed away December 2, 2015 after a valiant battle with lung disease. Faye was born May 3, 1940 in Elsinore, Utah, to LaVar "Bish" and Bertha Baierline Johnson. She attended South Sevier High School, where she met her eternal companion, Ted Richard Smith. They were married May 28, 1960. The marriage was solemnized in the Manti Utah Temple September 16, 1961. Ted and Faye made their home in Monroe, Utah.
Faye’s love for life and people was felt by all who met her. She was quick with a smile and a kind word and would befriend anyone lucky enough to be around her. A gifted artist, there was not a medium for which Faye did not enjoy or excel. She enjoyed drawing, painting, ceramics, sewing, needlepoint, doll-making, and creating art out of everything from antiques to plastic bags. Faye loved traveling; she especially enjoyed cruises with her daughters and her annual trips up the Oregon coast with Ted and her dear friends.
Faye had a strong testimony of the Gospel and truly exemplified love of the Savior. Devoted to service of all kinds, she fulfilled many callings in the LDS church, including positions in the Primary, Relief Society, and Sunday School. Faye was also a temple worker in the Manti Temple.
Mom (Grandma), we will greatly miss your love, your patience, and how happy you made us feel. We’ll miss talking with you daily. We’ll continue watching those movies you always slept through. We’ll try to perfect those artistic skills you tried to teach us. We’ll love each other and keep our lives centered around you and Dad (Grandpa). We’ll always cherish "Wana World."
Faye is survived by her husband, Ted; her six children: Aderianna (Cameron) Jackson, Shawn (Toni), Terri (Mark) Bateman, Donavan (Jill), Brady (Michelle), Timaree (Eladio) Bobadilla; her ten grandsons; and her eight granddaughters. She is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings: Verdon Johnson, Evelyn Mason; and her grandson James McWhorter Smith.
