Walter "Walt" Gibson

Walter Gibson, 81, passed away on November 22, 2015 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Collette Machin, they were married September 26, 1952. They shared 65 years together.
Born in Ioka, Utah on April 9, 1934, he was the son of Andrew Gilbert Gibson and Sylvia Irene Kempton. He had 7 brothers and 2 sisters Andrew (Juanita), William (Thelma), Jesse (Eva), Russell (Pearl), Jasper, Carl (Jerry), Margaret (Patrick) Martinez, Laura (Elmer) Gardner, and Alvey.
Walt worked as a welder for 40 years, but that’s not what defined him. Walt was an avid hunter, fisher and horsemen. He loved camping and was known for his wild stories. He was a phenomenal cook and enjoyed feeding those he loved. He was a very outgoing and compassionate person. He loved meeting new people, and everyone who met Walt loved him. But most importantly, he was a family man. Walt doted on the love of his life, Collette, his children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren. Each one of them knew that they were the center of his world. He and Collette have created a legacy of love.
He is survived by his wife, Collette Gibson, his children, Bridget Gibson of
Eureka, Melody (Robert) Jeffs of Gunnison, Tracey (Michael) Helton of Centerfield and Justin (Lea) Gibson of Fountain Green and his 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. His is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings and a great-grandson, Matthew Estey.
Graveside services and Interment will be held on Monday, November 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Centerfield Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, November 29, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Magleby Mortuary, Manti. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
