Wally Veater
Panguitch, Utah
We are sadden by the passing of our beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, Wallace Ralph Veater, 61, on Sunday, April 13, 2014 in St. George Utah, following complications due to pancreatitis. Wally was born March 17, 1953 in Panguitch, to Ralph and Darylene Davis Veater.
He married Tamyra Excell, November 18, 1972. After having four children, they divorced.
He married Mary Beth Lowder, September 7, 2007. They were sealed, June 26, 2010 in the St. George Temple. Mary Beth and Wally were truly each others’ sweethearts. Mary Beth was Wally’s first and last kiss.
Wally attended and graduated from Panguitch High School and later joined the Utah National Guard. He was a hard worker and was dedicated to providing for his family. A professional saw filer, he worked for Kaibab for 20 years where he enjoyed working with numerous friends. Following the closure of the Kaibab, he and his son, Jamie, started up the local waste sanitation company, J.W. Disposal, where he has been owner/operator for 19 years.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he held many callings.
Wally enjoyed the outdoors, his legacy will live on in Dog Valley by all the "roads" he made. He loved the game of golf, and playing it with his buddies, sons and son-in-law. He was sure proud of his hole-in-one he hit last year.
His greatest passion was his family. Wally was an amazing husband and father and always took the time for his family. He enjoyed spending every moment with his entire family, hunting in Dog Valley, fishing at Panguitch Lake and Otter Creek, or riding 4-wheelers with the love of his life. He loved attending his grandchildren’s activities, and made time to be with his special grandson, Daltyn, while he was in Primary Children’s awaiting a kidney transplant.
Wally touched many lives by his generosity and kindness to all.
Our hearts are filled with gratitude for the wonderful doctors and staff of Garfield Memorial Hospital and Dixie Regional Medical Center for their kind loving care for our husband, father, son, brother.
Wally is survived by his wife Mary Beth; sons: James (Monica), Chad (Melissa); daughters: Amber (Nicholas) Matthew and Brittany (Brandon) Sullivan; step-daughter, Mindy (Andrew) Kuykendall; grandchildren: Avery, Kenzey, Brenley, Rylen, Remington, Saxton, Mckenley, Daltyn, Madison, Ryley, Keegan, Karter, Gauge, Krew, Tye; father, Ralph; brothers: Daryl (Maxine), Robert (Lori), Jeff (Colleen).
