Vivien Northrup
Monroe, Utah
The sweetest wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Vivien Parker Northrup, returned home February 8, 2025 for her first heavenly dance with her sweetheart, Richard Birt Northrup, after being separated for only just over a month. Vivien passed of natural causes surrounded by her loving family in Orem, Utah at Covington Senior Living.
Vivien was born May 17, 1940 in the beloved Parker family rock house in Joseph, Utah to Lynn and Shirley Parker. Vivien was the oldest of five children and was her dad's right-hand gal on the farm. From driving tractors to thinning sugar beets, this blue-eyed country girl could really do it all.
Viv was full of South Sevier school spirit. She was a cheerleader, Queen of the BlackHawk Celebration, and loved attending school dances.
Vivien married Ronald Ivan Mills on October 3, 1959. Together they raised their four children on their family farm in Monroe, which they purchased in the early 1960s. They later divorced.
She moved to Salt Lake City where she worked at The Fabric Shop. Viv met many new friends there, discovered her love of Jazz games, and attended church dances where she met her eternal companion, Richard. They were married and sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on November 19, 1988.
They then moved to Castledale, Utah where Richard was employed as a mine surveyor. When the opportunity arose a few years later, they jumped at the chance to move back to her sons' family farm in Monroe where they would be close to their children and grandchildren. They spent the remainder of their years attending and supporting the extracurricular activities of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. From wrestling matches to dance recitals, musicals to ball games, Grandma and Grandpa attended as many events as they could. Even when grandchildren had come and gone, you could find these two in the stands as some of South Sevier's most loyal fans.
Viv loved to dance. Whether it be at the Shady Dell, or the local Jr Prom, Richard would always "save the last dance" for her. A common saying they shared throughout their lifetime.
Vivien loved being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She faithfully served in many various callings in the Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary. She and Richard also had the wonderful opportunity to serve a full-time mission in Cincinnati, Ohio, and served for many years in the Manti temple. Vivien was also an active member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers organization.
Even though many trials knocked at her door, Vivien answered with an unwavering testimony of the gospel and of her Savior Jesus Christ, which helped her endure so valiantly to the end. Vivien was bright, cheerful, and will forever be the sunshine in our souls. She will be greatly missed and so sweetly remembered. We love you.
She is survived by daughter, Mitzi (Randy) Bodily; sons: Michael (Robyn) Mills, Mathew Mills, Lance (Tracie) Mills; stepchildren, Lynette (Paul) Hofer, Kaye (Greg) Gensel, David (Angel) Northrup, Kevin Northrup; as well as 24 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Patricia (Carl) Christiansen and Jeanne (Greg) Mendenhall; brother, Scott (Kay) Parker.
Vivien was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Northrup; parents, Lynn and Shirley Parker, and brother, Brett Parker.
The family would like to thank all those who have shown love and compassion at this time, as we celebrate and recognize the life of this amazing woman.
