Vivian Alieth Leavitt Lay, 90, passed away May 12, 2012 I Richfield. She was born October 17, 1921 in Joseph to Lloyd Leland and Fawn Mahala Sylvester Leavitt. Her mother died when she was 10 years old, leaving five children. She married Weldo Lay on March 17, 1938 in Richfield. He preceded her in death January 16, 2012
Mom learned to cook from Dad’s mother, whom she dearly loved. She was always baking bread and pies, and making her delicious Carrot Pudding. No one went away from our home hungry, and unexpected guests were always welcome.
Mom could do almost anything from sewing, wallpapering and gardening to hauling hay, building fences, milking cows and so on.
Vivian is survived by sons: Leland Harvey (Sandra) Lay, St. George; Davy (Holly) Lay, Annabella; Darwin (Theresa) Lay, Marysvale; and daughter, Connie (Don) Greenbaum, Monroe; 19 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, June Christensen and Beverly Beck; half-brother, James Leavitt
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marja Dorrity, and brother Harold Lloyd Leavitt.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 18, 2012 at 12:00 Noon in the Marysvale LDS Chapel, 434 West bullion. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. in the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield, 50 S 100 W and Friday from 10:30 - 11:30 p.m. at the chapel in Marysvale. Burial will be in the Thompsonville Cemetery.
