Virginia Marjorie Scott Edwards, 99, passed away peacefully August 29, 2019 into the welcoming arms of the Lord, Jesus Christ, the Savior whom she so loved. She passed away in Monroe, Utah. She was born December 29, 1919, in Fillmore, California to Bernard Sailor and Bessie Jemison Scott. She graduated from Fillmore High School in 1938 and married Lowell Norman Edwards, June 29, 1940. They were married 71 years. They had one son, Jonathan, who became a Baptist pastor. She was preceded in death by her parents, four siblings and her husband. She is survived by her son, Jonathan (Chrissa) Edwards; grandchildren: Rachel (Dan) Glass, Sarah (Isaac) Tibbetts, Timothy (Shuping Wang) Edwards, Stephen (Elizabeth) Edwards, and Joshua (Rachel) Edwards; and 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom loved her dearly.

Virginia will be remembered for her joyful, thankful spirit and witty sense of humor. Care givers in recent years will attest to her constant singing, funny quips, and cheerful countenance. During the early years of her marriage, she worked a "Rosy Riveter" job, helping build the planes her husband was flying in the war effort. In the early 1970s, they set up a flying program together in the Philippine Islands for a mission hospital built by the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism. Virginia manned the radio on the ground while Lowell flew the plane. She had a green thumb and always had a yard full of beautiful flowers which she used to create lovely bouquets for home and church. Throughout her life, she always kept a nice home, which was constantly used for hospitable purposes. She taught many children’s Sunday school classes and Bible clubs. A thoroughly worn-out Bible is testament to what motivated her generous, loving spirit. As a young girl, she received God’s gift of eternal life by faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. She finished her course on earth well by listening to beloved Christian hymns and the Bible being read to her until the very last day.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 6, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Marysvale Baptist Church, where friends may call from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Marysvale Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
