Virgil Dean Nay, 87, passed away peacefully in the Central Utah Veteran’s Home in Payson, Utah on September 15, 2013. He was born January 10, 1926, in Victorville, California to Fay and Ella Peterson Nay. He married Cleo Lundgreen on September 10, 1949, in Monroe, Utah, later solemnized in the Manti Temple on July 5, 1963. She preceded him in death February 27, 2011.
Virgil served honorably in the U.S. Navy as a radio operator on board the seaplane tender USS Hamlin in the Pacific Theater in WWII. He was a fun-loving father of four children who loved adventure and the outdoors. His example as a patient and dedicated care-giver to his loving wife, Cleo, during her long struggle with Multiple Sclerosis, will never be forgotten.
Virgil is survived by his children: Scott (Kim) Nay, Lisa (Kim) Rappleye, Kyrt (Grace Anne) Nay, and Paula (Blaine) Michaelsen; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Beth Nay.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Duane Nay, Demont (Jane) Nay.
The family wishes to thank all those who provided such good care for him at Avalon West Rehab in Salt Lake and the Central Utah Veteran’s Home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 21, 2013, at 11:00 am at the Murray 8 th LDS Ward Chapel, 160 E 4600 S, where friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Monroe Cemetery at 5:00 p.m. with military rites by the Monroe American Legion, Post #25. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
