Vila A. Whittaker
Richfield, Utah
Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and sweet friend, Vila LaRen Ackerman Whittaker, 86, passed away December 24, 2014 in Richfield, surrounded by her family.
Vila was born November 2, 1928 in Junction to Joseph and Elsie McIntosh Ackerman. She married Donald Carlyle Whittaker in the Manti Temple. Though they later divorced, her family remained her highest priority. She often said, "my family is my life." Anyone who knew her, knew she meant it.
She was the mother of three children and loved them deeply. She was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother; each with memories that will be cherished forever. Her love extended to all those blessed to know her. Her home was the social center in Circleville for many years and will always be remembered for fun and entertainment. She loved hosting parties and everyone was welcome. There was always an abundance of laughter and fun and all left with full bellies and fond memories.
Vila loved her Savior and served Him faithfully throughout her life. Her love for Him continued to grow through her trials, her many life experiences, and especially during the past several months as she struggled to endure the after effects of a stroke.
She worked over 20 years in the banking industry where she enjoyed many great friendships. She retired as the Operations Supervisor at Valley Cental Bank.
Vila is survived by her children: Maridon (William "Bill") Crosby, Hurricane; NaNon (Kevin M.) Bulloch, Cedar City; Carlyle Bret (Joni) Whittaker, Richfield; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sister, Leah Atkinson, West Valley City.
She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Zelda Ackerman, Velda Norton, Marion W. Ackerman, Dortha Fern Ackerman, Raeola LeFevre and Joseph Voyne Ackerman.
