With his pain and suffering at an end, Verl Langston, 89, died on July 16, 2013 in Richfield, Utah. Verl was born March 17, 1924 in St. George, Utah to Nona Mae Demille and Rulon Andrew Langston. He married Christiane Mennechet in Laon, France May 29, 1946, later soleminized in the Manti Temple.

Verl was raised in Rockville, Utah and attended Hurricane High School where he excelled in athletics, and was student body president. He received a basketball scholarship to Utah State University, and then was called to serve in the U.S. Army during WWII spending four years fighting for his country. It was while he was in France that he met Christiane.

Verl played basketball for Dixie College, and then transferred to Montana State University where he graduated with a degree in Agriculture Education. His first teaching job was as an Ag Teacher and Coach in Escalante, Utah. He then moved with his family to Richfield, Utah where he taught at Richfield High School and Richfield Jr. High School for 21 years.

Verl was a life-long rancher, owning and operating VL Ranch in Southern Utah and Northern Arizona with his sons. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed athletics his whole life, and loved watching the Jazz in his later years. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by his wife, Christiane; children Ann Lyne (Ron) Oldroyd, Eric (Sherolyn) Langston, Mike (Patricia) Langston, all Richfield; Karen (Brad) Sampson, Heber City; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by parents and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, 50 South 100 West, Richfield, where friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Richfield Cemetery with military rites by the V.F.W. Post #5050 and Utah Honor Guard. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.

The family would like to thank the many caregivers who so lovingly took care of our father during this difficult period in his life.
