Vera LaRae Salisbury

Vera LaRae Barratt Salisbury 92, of Richfield, Utah, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 19, 2018 in Monroe, Utah. Vera was born on March 5, 1925 in Provo, Utah to Earl Heber Barratt and Harriett Edna Berry. Her mother Harriet died before her first birthday and her father later married Cora Wadley.

Vera lived most of her youth in Provo with her aunt and uncle; Lyde and Arvel Morgan. She graduated from Provo High School in 1943. She married Marvin D. Salisbury on April 24, 1945. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He preceded her in death May 30, 2010.

Vera was employed in a variety of jobs including the Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management, to name a few. She was a skilled seamstress making clothes for her boys, draperies to decorate her home as well as for others who would hire her for her unique talent. She also did needlepoint. Her beautiful work is displayed in her home. Cooking was another talent. Her specialties were homemade bread, cinnamon rolls, and dipped chocolates. She made a point to deliver some of her baked goods to families and friends that she felt could use a blessing of kindness. She served many years in compassionate service in the Relief Society, primarily providing the family meal for many funerals.

Vera and Marvin loved their boys, Mike and Rob. They made many sacrifices on their behalf. They had many opportunities to vacation together but always preferred to visit family. Mike and Rob are successful because of their sacrifice, example, and hard work throughout their life.

Vera is survived by her sons: Michael (Jannette) Salisbury, Richland, WA; Robert (Lisa) Salisbury, Rock Springs, WY; sister Marilyn Norman, San Ramon, CA; 8 grandchildren, 23 great-grand children and 1 great-great-granddaughter. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Reece Nash, Doug Nash.

Funeral services will be held Saturday January 27, 2018 at 10:00am in the Richfield 11th LDS Ward Chapel, 985 So. 400 W. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary on Friday 6-8 pm and at the ward chapel from 8:30-9:30 am. Interment will be in the Richfield City Cemetery.
