Vaunie Griffin Richins, age 86, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2015 in Panguitch with her loving family by her side. She was born July 29, 1928 to Alburn and Neoma Schow Griffin in Escalante, Utah. She married Marland Luman Richins Jr. February 12, 1948 in Elko, NV. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on April 1, 2004.

All through her life Vaunie contributed to her family, church and community through a variety of callings and services that she was dedicated and passionate about. She enjoyed the outdoors, family reunions and activities that involved spending time with family and friends. She looked forward to the everyday visits with her bothers, and anyone who came along.

Vaunie worked many years as a beautician and was well liked by anyone she came in contact with. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children: David Lorin (Becky) Richins, Pine, AZ; Marla Vauneen (Terry) Olsen, Escalante; daughter-in-law, Diane Richins, Escalante;, step-daughter, Norma Jo (Larry) Thrailkill, CA; 10 grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Delane Griffin, Gene (Theris) Griffin, and Lynn (Judy) Griffin, Wade Griffin, Sheral Griffin.

Also preceded in death by her parents; son, Melvin Curtis "Curt" Richins; Brother, Cecil; Sister, Flo; sister-in-law, Leah Griffin.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 17, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Escalante 2 nd Ward Chapel, where friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Escalante Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
