Tony V Norton, 82, passed away on November 26, 2018 in Junction. He was born April 19, 1936 in Junction to John Afton and Dora Price Norton. Tony’s mother died when he was 9. He and his younger sister, Afton, were raised in Junction by his sister and her husband, Sylva and Earl Barnson.

On April 1, 1955 Tony entered the U.S. Navy. He served in an air transport squadron as a first class aviation structural mechanic. He was discharged on March 31, 1959, continuing on in the Navy reserve for two more years.

On June 20, 1961, Tony enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and retired December 31, 1982, serving 26 years. He served in several different stations during that time and was the Master Chief Aviation Structure Mechanic earning the following awards: CG unit commendation; Gold Star; CG and Navy good conduct awards; National Defense medal.

He married Lynda Gene Johnson December 1, 1964. They had four children: Randy Ray, Anita Louise, Rusty Ragen and Sharie. They later divorced.

After Tony retired, he returned to Junction where he built and operated a café and trailer park, which were later sold. He worked as a maintenance man for the town of Junction.

Tony married Rita Patterson Cox on November 2, 2001.

Tony is survived by his wife, Rita, of Junction; children: Anita Sanders, Rusty (Kristi) Norton, Sharie Jene’ Norton; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Afton Jensen.

Preceded in death by his parents; son, Randy; sister: Virginia (Earl) Barnson; brother, Jay Norton.

Graveside services with military honors will be held Monday, December 3, 2018 at 12:00 Noon. in the Junction Cemetery.
