Tom Lloyd
Elsinore, Utah
Tom Ford Lloyd, 62, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at the Richfield Care Center. He passed away quietly after a brief illness and is now free of the many physical problems he was having and is now renewing relationships with loved ones.
Tom was born September 19, 1950 in Salt Lake City to Ford Francis and Louise Ethel Pedersen Lloyd. He was the youngest of four children and moved quite often between Utah and California because of his father’s employment. He graduated from Kennedy High School in Fremont, California in 1969.
Tom remained a bachelor for all of his life and was much loved by his many nieces and nephews. He had many jobs in his life from shooing horses to serving in the navy. He joined the navy in his 30's and traveled the world. Because of his age all his ship mates called him "Pappy". He was the go-to guy to get things done and much respected by his officers and ship mates.
He retired to Elsinore and loved the people and community. He could often be seen riding his lawnmower and cutting the widow’s lawns without charge. He took care of his aged aunt, Zella Mae Mecham, until their health forced both of them out of their house into the Richfield Care Center, where Aunt Mae still resides. He had a witty sense of humor, had many friends and seldom complained about his illness or conditions in life. He was a member of the LDS Church and the church was always there, especially during some rough times in his childhood.
Tom is survived by his sisters: Frances Trettin, Portland, OR; and Ellen Perry, Glen Ellen, CA; brother, Larry Lloyd, Richfield; his best friend, his dog "Cookie" who went everywhere with him. He is preceded in death by his parents.
In accordance to Tom’s wishes, his body has been donated to the University of Utah Medical Donor Program. Later his ashes will be buried with honor in the Utah Veterans Memorial Mortuary at Camp Williams.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in the Cowboy Corral in Elsinore. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
