Todd W Braithwaite

March 15, 1958 — March 17, 2022

Todd Braithwaite
Sterling, Utah

Todd W. Braithwaite, 64, passed away in his sleep at the home of his brother in Sterling, Utah on March 17, 2022.  Todd was born in Provo, Utah,  on March 15, 1958, the third son of Wayne and Erma J. Chase Braithwaite. He attended public schools in the Alpine School District. He graduated from Orem High School while taking classes at Utah Technical College on small engine repairs.

He developed a love for motorcycles and eventually opened a motorcycle repair shop in Orem called Performance Cycle. Todd was a very skilled mechanic and had customers who came from miles away for his personal services. He could also repair jet-skis, all-terrain vehicles, custom dirt bikes and street motorcycles as well.  Yamaha Corporation of Japan once called Todd to assist them in solving some mechanical and engineering problems they could not solve. He enjoyed listening to rock music of the 70's, 80's and 90's while he worked.

Todd had a good heart. He often took young men who struggled and those who were down on their luck and gave them jobs to help them out. A few of them actually became good mechanics. Some eventually starting their own businesses.

Todd loved to race hard on dirt bikes as well as compete in different venues including the annual Widow Maker Hill run at the point of the mountain. He won first place in that competition in the 80's.  Todd’s love of the outdoors would find him enjoying camping, fishing, boating, prospecting, exploring the desert and small towns and attending family activities.  He excelled at playing the accordion. He used his skills to create a device using powerful earth magnets to alleviate body aches and chronic pain. He shared his invention with others and helped many people.

In his later years Todd became estranged from his family. The medications, serious injuries, and accidents took a toll on his body and mind, as well as the most important relationships in his life...his family. He is now at peace...hopefully, he will be able to progress and heal. Todd’s hope would be that those whom he let down and hurt over the years while he struggled with addiction and personality disorders will be able to forgive him someday.

Todd is survived by his daughters: Kelsi Braithwaite, Kaitlin Braithwaite; brothers: Daniel Braithwaite, Edwin (Lea Ann) Braithwaite; and his sister, Tauni Lynn (Steve) Wilkes.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother; nephew, Levi Edwin Braithwaite.

Cremation services will be held at the Magleby Mortuary Crematory. Private family graveside services will be held in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery on March 24, 2022. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
