Our beloved husband, father, son, uncle, and friend, Thomas Carlyle Wood, 48, passed away in his home Monday, September 1, 2014. He was born September 16, 1965 in El Centro, CA to Albert Carlyle and Leone Erickson Wood, Tom was the youngest of six children. He grew up in Provo. He married Johanna Cottle on December 27, 1991 in the Salt Lake City Temple, and they were blessed with three children.

A 1984 graduate of Provo High School, Tom served in the New York, New York Spanish speaking mission. He attended and graduated from BYU with a mechanical engineering degree. He and Johanna moved their family to Wichita, KS and lived there for 4 years. In 2000 they moved to Highlands Ranch, where they have raised their family for the past 14 years.

A member of the LDS Church, he served in numerous callings including ward clerk, nursery leader, cub scout leader, and counselor in elder’s quorum and high priest group. Tom played cello in high school and loved music. He developed a passion for cooking and was famous for his Christmas Eve four course dinners. Tom was also a highly enthusiastic fan of all things BYU, but especially their football program. Tom was known for his quick wit and fun sense of humor.

Tom is survived by his wife, Johanna, and three children, Spencer, Andrew, and Haley; mother, Leone, Provo; siblings: Christine (Charles) Schumann, Orem; Rebecca (Del) Brady, Vernal; Alan (Jan) Wood, South Jordan; Lynette (Allen) Woolley, Rose Hill, KS; Joanna (Richard) Watson, Provo.

Preceded in death by his father, Albert.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 5, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Highlands Ranch Stake Center, where friends may call after 9:00 a.m. Burial will be Saturday at 1:00 pm in the Monroe City Cemetery.
