Thelma Bybee

Tropic, Utah

Our precious mother, Thelma June Quilter Bybee, 84, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015 in Panguitch. Thelma was born June 9, 1931 in Henrieville, Utah to Harry and Mary Atherly Quilter. She was the youngest of seven children. Shortly after graduating from Tropic High School, she married Clive Fenton Bybee, February 8, 1951 in the St. George LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on November 23, 2008. They were blessed with nine children and an adopted daughter. They also opened their home to four Native American placement daughters.

Mom lived her entire married life in Tropic, except for the last four which she spent at the Garfield Memorial Long-term Care in Panguitch. Mom was active in the LDS Church and held many callings. She was a support to her husband through the many years he served as bishop and in the stake presidency. She had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and was an example to her family and those around her. Mom loved her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was happiest when they were around.

Mom is survived by her children: Gary (Kristeen) Bybee, Sharon (Chris) White, both of Santa Clara; Rick (Renon) Bybee, Aaron (Julia) Bybee, both of Tropic; Kevan (Kassi) Bybee, North Ogden; Mary Ann (Jim) Tebbs, Fallon, NV; KaeLynn (Paul) Harward, Craig (Brenda) Bybee, both of Riverton; Shawn (Karen) Bybee, Enoch; Rhonda Rivers, Vesper, KS; Rosie Quicero, Gallup, NM; 51 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lakay Quilter, Henrieville.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; infant son; brothers: Melvin, Glen, James and Eugene Quilter; sisters: Virginia Johnson and Mary Johnson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 12:00 Noon in the Tropic LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Tropic Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.

The family would like to thank the many people at the care center in Panguitch, especially her nurses who took such loving care of Mom for the past four years. They are truly angels and she loved them very much. Also a special thanks to her granddaughter, Jessica, who spent many hours with Mom to make sure she always looked beautiful.
