Terene "Whistler" Ford
Elsinore, Utah
Terene Marie Hammel Ford, 72, passed away September 19, 2016 at her home in Elsinore. She was born July 13, 1944 in Chewelah, Washington to Terence and Leona Zibell Hammel. She married Clair Lavar Ford, October 5, 1963, Chewelah, Washington. The marriage was solemnized December 6, 2000 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Terene was a fun loving person, there was always "a little" hell going on whenever she was around. She enjoyed her family, friends and company. When health concerns permitted, she and Lavar traveled back to her home state of Washington.
She and Lavar owned and operated Ford Fish Hatchery on the Glenwood Road for many years. She was the assistant manager at the Richfield Top Stop. She later managed the Romanico and New West Motels in Richfield. She loved her CB radio and all the friends she made there. She and Lavar were members of a CB club called "The Alert Team" and raised funds for the Jerry Lewis Telethon.
She was diagnosed with MS in 1981 and fought valiantly through this disease as well as diabetes. She commented many times that she would not have been able to get along as well as she has had it not been for the love, support and kindness of her husband and family. Lavar was her angel on earth.
She is survived by her husband, Lavar of Elsinore; children, Terry Lavar (Machaelle) Ford and William (Renna) Ford, both of Richfield; seven grandchildren: Elyssa Ford, Matlin Ford, NcKisha Ford, Kyle Pierce, Krystal (Brendon) Davis, Chandler Jackson, Savannah Jackson; sister, Patty (Peter) Henniger, Sandy, Oregon; brother, Larry (Stacey) Hammel, New Port, Washington.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2016 in the Elsinore LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield on Friday evening from 6 to 8 or at the ward chapel on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30. Burial will be in the Elsinore Cemetery.
The family extends their thank you to the doctors, nurses and other care givers who have assisted with Terene these past many years. We want you to know how much we appreciate your love and care.
