Stanley Hunt
Monroe, Utah
A man of few words, but with an unmistakable and contagious smile and laugh, Stanley G Hunt, 65, passed away unexpectedly July 29, 2014, at his home in Monroe.
Born February 24, 1949 in Richfield to Gerald Devon and Betsy Jean Rogers Hunt, Stan was the oldest of six children in his family. He was a lifelong resident of the Sevier Valley, growing up in Richfield, later moving to live in Monroe as an adult.
He married Joyce Jolley, Dec. 3, 1971.They had one child together, and later divorced.
Stan married Vickie Johns, August 7, 1981 in the Provo LDS Temple. Together they raised four children, who became their pride and joy in life. Joined later by eight grandchildren, they became the light of his life in his sunset years. She preceded him in death Jun6, 2012.
A coal miner with Southern Utah Fuel Company for more than 30 years, Stan worked hard to provide for his family’s needs, putting them always ahead of his own. He was also greatly dedicated to his faith and community.
Through the years Stan served diligently in numerous church callings, including as a missionary serving in his youth in the East Coast states, and later as a member of the bishopric, as a diligent home teacher and for many years working with the youth.
He left his mark on many with his work in the Scouting program, serving in various capacities to help young men learn to be self-sufficient and trustworthy.
In the community, Stan found a place serving with the Monroe Lions Club in recent years, as well as providing service where he saw a need for neighbors and friends. He also gave of his time to coach little league baseball and found joy in playing the role of Santa Claus at church, community and private Christmas parties.
A 1967 graduate of Richfield High School, Stan also served his country, enlisting for a term with the Utah Army National Guard after high school.
In the two years after the passing of his sweetheart, Stan turned to family, the community and to his love of the outdoors to help fill the void left in her absence. He also paid daily visits to her final resting place as his thoughts were always with her.
Now, only two short years without her by his side, he is once again reunited with his true love and eternal companion, basking in the glory of forever.
Thanks for everything, Dad. We love you.
