Sigfredo "Frederico" Almena, 92, Monroe, passed away January 26, 2014 in Richfield. He was born July 9, 1921 in Puerto Rico to Julio and Louisa Quinnoes Almena. He married Maria Acevedo in 1943 in Moca, Puerto Rico. She preceded him in death.
"Frederico" came to the U.S. in 1946. He has worked as a chef at the Sheraton and the Essex House in New York City. He moved to California and has been in Utah for over 25 years where he was chef at Frederico’s in Monroe.
He is survived by his children: Gladys (Albert) Rodriguez, So. CA; Haydee (Steve) Rosenzwieg, Monroe; Elizabeth Fisher, So. CA; and Edward Almena, No. CA; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchhildren; sister, Mone Cusdio .
He is also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Zaida Ream.
Cremation services have been held. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary, Thursday, from 7-8 p.m. Graveside services will be Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Monroe Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
