Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Shirley Dean Ence Sorenson, 87, passed away July 29, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born February 28, 1924 in Richfield to Arthur and Zoe Johnson Ence. She married Merald A. Sorenson, December 23, 1942 in the Manti LDS Temple. They remained loving sweethearts until his passing February 12, 1991.
Mom loved her life and put her heart into everything that she did. She had so much energy and she needed it in raising her family of 7 children. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, fishing, picnic’s, walking, spending time with all of us, chocolate and tending her precious grandchildren. She was a Super Grandma, who loved and spoiled us all as only she could. She took great pride in her family and took such loving care of all of us. Her family is her greatest joy and blessing.
Mom worked at Hall Drug and later at the Richfield JC Penny’s Store. She was a member of the LDS Church and served in various callings.
She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, quiet grace and dignity. "Her hands and her heart were never idle".
Shirley is survived by her children, Gary (Kristie) Sorenson of Annabella, Vickie Parsons of Monroe, Ronald (Brenda) Sorenson of Annabella, Zoe Ann (John) Bergum of Austin, Kim Sorenson of Ogden, Patti Sorenson of Richfield, Sherlene (David) McCurdy of Richfield; 33 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Williams of Washington State.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandchildren, Andrea Bergum, Ben Christensen, Bucky Parsons; siblings, Arthello, Floyd, Irene, Naoma and Janice.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 in the Richfield 10 th Ward Chapel, 700 West 200 South, where friends call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery. Funeral Directors, Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
