Shirley Andreasen Meacham, 94, passed away Thursday morning, July 14, 2016 at the Monroe Canyon Assisted Living Center of natural causes. She was born in Monroe on October 12, 1921, the daughter of George and Manetta Gregersen Andreasen.
She grew up in Monroe and attended South Sevier High School. She was married to Golden Littlefield Meacham, April 19, 1938 in Monroe. The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Golden preceded her in death October 6, 2001.
Shirley and Golden lived and farmed in the Monroe and Joseph areas for 15 years, then moved to Arco, Idaho where they ranched in Butte and Lemhi Counties for many years. They then moved to the Uintah Basin where they continued to ranch for several years before moving to Menan, Idaho in 1984. After Golden passed away, Shirley moved back home to Monroe where she has lived for the past 15 years. She has been at Monroe Canyon Assisted Living for the past eight months.
She was a member of the LDS Church, where she has served in various positions. She served in the ward Primary, Young Women’s and Relief Society presidencies.
Our mother always loved to talk and visit with people, taking an interest in everyone. She demonstrated compassion for people of all cultures and circumstances and was well-versed in many aspects of life. She was unselfish in her thoughts and actions for all of her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Jill (Mike) Miles of Monroe; sons, Ken (Shari) Meacham of Menan, Idaho, Stanley (Rita) Meacham of Myton; 24 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Golden; daughter, Carol; son, Douglas; parents; siblings, Thelma Holt, Norma Johnson, Lucille Tuft, Gordon Andreasen and James Royal Andreasen.
The family would like to extend a special thanks for the care and love shown to Shirley while at the Monroe Canyon Living Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2016 in the Monroe 4th LDS Ward Chapel, 49 East 200 North. The family will receive friends and family Thursday at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield from 6 to 8 p.m. or at the church on Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to services. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery.
