Shirl D. Fox

Shirley Dwight Fox, 89, our beloved father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend passed away June 24, 2012. Shirl was born September 16, 1922, to George Henry and Ida Minnetta Nay Fox, the last of 12 children. Shirl was a patriotic man who served in the Navy during World Ward II.
He married his sweetheart, Elna Gardiner in the Manti LDS Temple on March 21, 1946. They had four children: Shirlene (John) Latzke, Sterling Dwight (Glenda) Fox, Owen Karlyle, deceased (Katheryn) Fox, and Shirl Gardiner (Tina) Fox; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren
Shirl was a member of the LDS Church and served in many callings. He owned a construction and excavation company, his backhoes being his favorite to work with. He was accomplished as a finish carpenter and a leather working craftsman. He was an experienced outdoors man and loved the mountains, especially on a horse. He will be greatly missed.
Shirl is survived by children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and half-brother Floyd Fox.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Elna; son, Owen Karlyle; parents; brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 29, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. in the Circleville LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the ward chapel in Circleville on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Circleville Cemetery with military rites by the VFW Piute Post #7561 and the Utah Honor Guard.
