Sherrie Pierce
Loomis, California /Tropic, Utah
Sherrie Mecham Pierce, 49, died on March 23, 2022 in Mapleton, Utah, after a long battle with cancer. Sherrie was born on June 26, 1972 in Salt Lake City, Utah followed shortly by her twin sister and lifelong best friend, Shauna. The twins were adopted by Lowell and Margaret Mecham and grew up in Tropic. They brought happiness, tears and a whole new perspective on life to the Mecham family.
Sherrie was a people person. Her best times were with other people, family, friends or strangers. She loved dancing and singing, playing and writing music. Sherrie had many wonderful talents she would freely share with everyone. In 2000, she recorded her music and released an album Into the Sunset.
A graduate from Bryce Valley High School, Sherrie then attended Southern Utah University and received a Bachelors degree. She then earned her Masters in Psychology from Utah State University, (Go Aggies!) and almost finished her doctorate in psychology from Alliant International University when health problems ended that goal.
Sherrie was Miss Garfield County in 1991. She was easy to talk to and spent many hours talking about anything and everything, sharing her wonderful sense of humor. These talents served her well as a psychologist helping children and adults alike.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Sherrie served in the New Jersey Morristown Mission, and did service work in New York and Poland. She was always busy working and helping people. She worked as a school counselor in Preston, Idaho and Nebo School District. In 2009 she met and married her forever love, and amazing husband, Reuben Pierce in the Mount Timpanogos Temple. Sherrie moved to Sacramento, California, and welcomed a baby daughter, Callie, to the family the following year. Callie was the light and joy of Sherrie’s life. While Sherrie has struggled with recurring health issues, she has always tried to find ways to work around her challenges and make life better. Sherrie was a friend to all, and so many people she bonded with will feel the loss of her wonderful spirit and influence.
Sherrie is survived by her husband, Reuben; and daughter Calliane Margaret Pierce; father, Lowell (Kathy) Mecham; parents-in-law, Dan (Ann) Pierce and Koelyn (John) Hooper; brothers: Steve (Shelli) Mecham, Scott (Jennifer) Mecham; and twin sister, Shauna (Gerald) Talbot; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins whom she loved dearly, and who adored her in return.
Preceded in death by mother, Margaret Mecham.
