    Sherman Kay Christensen, 82, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023 in Gunnison. He was born January 6, 1941 in Redmond to Clifford Elmer and Fern Ludean Johnson Christensen.  
    He grew up in Redmond with his four sisters: Fern, LaPreal, Shirleen and Marilyn.  He helped his dad with the family farm, loved being outdoors and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and working with the Scouts.
    When out of town family came to visit, there was always a drive in the mountains or a camping trip involved.
    He loved cooking in his Dutch oven and provided many hearty meals for the Boy Scouts.  He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a truck driver for a variety of companies for many years.  He was the Dam Master at Piute Reservoir and enjoyed roughing it in his huge garden.
    The family extends their thanks for all of those who have taken care of him.  
    He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children: Paul Rodney Christensen, Lori K (Brian) Dumas, Diana L Conejo, Susan N (Lindon) Brown, Emily T Burt; Barbara’s children: Kayleen (James) Johnson, Jana Jeppson and daughter-in-law, Tena Jeppson; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; two sisters. He is preceded in death by his parents: Clifford and Fern Christensen; ex-wife, Carol Y Christensen; son, Douglas E Christensen; sisters: Fern and LaPreal; Barbara’s sons,  Leon Jeppson, Brian Jeppson.
    A viewing and Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Magleby Mortuary.  Cremation services to follow. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.  Online guest book www.maglebymortuary.com
