Sherlene Johnson

Marysvale, Utah

Sherlene Smith Johnson, 74, passed away Saturday morning, October 18, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born January 12, 1940 in Price, Utah to Rex F. and LuRue Stoddard Smith. She was the oldest of three children. She married her high school sweetheart, Don H. Johnson, on June 26, 1959 in Marysvale, Utah. Together they had one child; Scott Johnson. Sherlene was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She had two grandsons. Don preceded her in death on April 27, 2003.

Sherlene moved to Marysvale as a young girl and spent her entire life there. She truly loved the town. She served many years as the town’s "weather lady" measuring and reporting the weather on a daily basis. She also served as a judge of election for many years where she enjoyed visiting with the townspeople. Sherlene was a very pleasant person with a welcoming smile and was always "just fine" no matter what the circumstances. She had a fun sense of humor and never let the small stuff bother her. Her home was often filled with the sound of the country music she so enjoyed and she seldom missed a Utah JAZZ basketball game.

She will be greatly missed by those who loved her so deeply.

Sherlene is survived by her son, Scott (Tammy) Johnson, Henderson Nevada; grandsons: Matthew Johnson and Chase Johnson; brother, Brent (Carol) Smith, Bountiful; sister, Lesa Greenhalgh, West Jordan; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in the Marysvale Ward Chapel, where friends may call from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Marysvale Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
