Our dad, Scott Merrill Sorenson, 61, left this life on October 9, 2018 at his home in Redmond.
Scott has dealt with depression and thoughts of suicide for many years and finally succumbed to his depression. Though many have tried to understand we were never able to help alleviate his pain. We will always love and miss him but we know he is in a place where others can help him.
Scott was born December 7, 1956 in Richfield, UT to Hoyle L. and Donna Ruth Nielsen Sorenson. He was always proud of being born on “Pearl Harbor Day”. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sydney, Australia.
He married Mary Lou Clegg on August 12, 1982 in the Ogden Utah Temple, together they had three children: Michael Scott, Victoria Elise and Megan Ashley. Scott and Mary are the grandparents of a grandson, Straton.
Scott served honorable in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Missouri when it was re-commissioned. After his term in the Navy he was part of the Navy Reserves for many years.
He loved learning and at the time of his death he was attending Snow College to learn Automotive Engineering.
Scott loved attending auctions and buying properties. He enjoyed collecting and probably had at least one of anything anyone would ever need. He also spent time playing “Pokemon”.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, Lyman, UT; his children: Michael Sorenson and Celeste Carter, St. George; Victoria and CJ Nebeker, Roosevelt; and Megan and Jacob Brown in Mesquite, NV; and a grandson Straton Haze Nebeker. Scott is also survived by his father, Hoyle L. Sorenson, Ogden; and by his brothers: Craig (Ramona) Sorenson, Escalante; Brian K. Sorenson, Delta, CO; and Kevin Sorenson, Ogden. Scott was preceded in death by mother.
