Sarah Slivkoff Christensen, 89, passed away surrounded by family in Centerfield, UT. She was the fifth child of John Slivkoff and Mary Evdokimoff. She was born in Los Angeles, CA. She lived most of her life in Vista, CA. She married Rex Edward Christensen, June 5, 1943. She and Rex had four children; Diana Gail, James Joseph, Rex James and Brian Eugene. James Joseph died in infancy. They also raised their niece, Marinel (Lidyoff) Riley.
Sarah graduated from Vista High School and attended Oceanside Jr. College. She continued her educational pursuits in art and decoration throughout her life. She was an avid reader. She possessed a beautiful soprano voice and thrilled many with her vocal solo skills. She worked as a telephone switchboard operator, poultry rancher, homemaker and professional caterer. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in many church assignments. She was frequently recognized for the countless hours she served in compassionate service and cooking meals for thousands of grateful recipients. Her interests included family, friends, church service, art (painting and drawing), music, gardening, decorating, reading, personal health, animals and homemaking (especially cooking).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex, both of her parents and all of her siblings (Nellie, John, George and Jim). She is survived by Diana and Richard Green, Rex James and Pat (Barile) Christensen, Brian, and her niece, Marinel and Dennis Riley. She had 19 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 13 great, great grandchildren with two more on the way.
Funeral services will be held in Manti, Utah on August 7, 2012. Graveside services and interment will follow in the San Marcos Cemetery on August 9, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Sarah loved the Vista area and expressed a strong desire to be buried next to the love of her life, Rex. Sarah was blessed with great care by family, friends, and hospice, as well as healthcare professionals during her last few years of life.
