Russell "Guncil" Hansen

Annabella, Utah

Russell R Hansen "Guncil", our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, age 60, passed away of an aneurysm, surrounded by family on July 17, 2017 in Provo, Utah. He was born January 23, 1957 at home in Bountiful, Utah to Louise Reynolds Hansen and Roger Leon Hansen.

Russ would always start his days before the sun would rise, working on the farm with his cows, in his yard or helping family and continue until long after the sun would set. He learned the value of hard work at a young age and was always known for helping friends, family, and complete strangers. He worked for Salt Lake County and Sevier County Road Departments for 33 years. Anyone who knew Russ knew they could always count on him for help. He always put other people’s needs first and worked endless hours until the job was done. Although his job here on earth is finished, we know he is in heaven happily herding cows, fixing fence and watering fields.

Russ described the best day of his life when he met his soul mate in high school when she asked for a piece of gum. Little did they know it would turn into a 40 year marriage. He married Shelly Wilkinson on June 11, 1977 in Sandy, Utah. They spent every day together building a wonderful home and raising two beautiful children: Celeste and Cody, that created a legacy that will last forever.

Russ’s greatest passions were riding four-wheelers, camping, rodeos, truck pulls, barbecuing, and telling many lifelong stories. Russ also enjoyed teaching anyone who would listen about fixing vehicles, ranching, and home projects. He could fix anything!

Russ is survived by his loving wife Shelly; children: Celeste (Jeff) Christiansen, Cody (Malorie) Hansen, Brandon Wilkinson; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter; siblings: Gale (Julie) Hansen, TB (Connie) Hansen, Robbie (Elliott) Levine.

Preceded in death by his parents; sister Richelle Hansen Whitehead; son- in-law, Josh Amos.

We would like to specially thank Dr. Reichman and the many other wonderful staff at Utah Valley Hospital for the exceptional care to Russ and his family during this difficult time.

The family would like to invite all family and friends for a celebration of Russ’s life to be held Sunday, July 30, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Annabella Community Center, located at 295 E 300 N, Annabella, UT 84711.
