Roy John Snelson, 82, of Axtell, Utah passed away on July 1, 2017 at Sandy Health and Rehab in Sandy, Utah. Roy was born in Pataha, Washington on January 12, 1935 to Andrew Arthur Snelson and Edna May Cline.

Roy joined the United States Air Force just out of high school and stayed in the service until he retired, with twenty years of service. He and his first wife, Phyllis had a daughter together, Susan. After a divorce, he met and married Maren Irene Peterson. Their union was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on July 30, 1957. Together they had four children: Richard, Edna, Ruth and Roxann. Maren preceded him in death January 23, 2012.

Roy spent his life involved in genealogical work, served a mission with his wife Maren to the Des Moines Iowa Mission and spent many years working in the Manti Temple.

Roy is survived by his 5 children, 22 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren and brothers, Robert and Jim.

He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Dennis and his twin brother Ray; along with his sister Goldie.

Graveside services will be held at the Salina Pioneer Cemetery on Saturday July 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Roy will receive full military honors for his faithful service to his country by the Salina American Legion Post #36.
