Roy F. Hatch

Roy Fearnley Hatch, 90, died Sunday, January 17, 2016, in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. He was born January, 9, 1926, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Spencer and Edith Fearnley Hatch.
Roy graduated from Davis High School in 1944, and went into the Marine Corps for 2½ years. He spent time on a troop transport during World War II, and then on the Battleship Missouri for six months before he was discharged. He served an LDS two-year mission in the northern states, in the state of Illinois. At the completion of his mission, Roy married Jeanette Draayer, from Clinton, Utah, in the Salt Lake Temple on December 15, 1950. They were married for 61 years. After Jeanette's passing, Roy married Shirley Park of Layton, Utah in 2012.
Upon graduation from the University of Utah in 1953, Roy taught in the Church Educational System for 20 years, serving in Parowan, Ogden, and the Ephraim Institute's of Religion. Roy then sold real estate in the Manti area for 30 years, before he retired.
Roy is survived by his children: Brian (Michelle), Reed (Debbie), and Dean (Susan), all of Manti; 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren; wife, Shirley, Layton; siblings: Barbara Furse, Howard Hatch, Dell Hatch, and Rulon Hatch. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette, daughter, Holly, siblings, Lily Liberman, Elaine Richards, Gladys VanCamp, Spencer Hatch, Clarence Hatch, and Noel Hatch.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 12:00 Noon, at the Manti Tabernacle, 90 South Main, where friends may call from 10:00-11:30 am. Burial will be in the Manti City Cemetery with military rites by the Manti American Legion Post #31. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
