Roy Hansen
Manti, UT
Roy K Hansen, beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother and friend passed away peacefully on May 30, 2017 in Provo surrounded by his family.
Roy was born August 17, 1955 to Ivan and Myrle Keele Hansen. He grew up in Mayfield Utah before marrying the love of his life, Carol James. They built their life together in Manti Utah where they raised three beautiful children.
Roy loved the outdoors and spent numerous weekends camping and hunting with family and friends. He was especially proud of his last hunting adventure when he killed his big bull in 2015. Roy was a builder and a handyman. He took great pride in his yard and annual garden. He was a long time Jazz fan who rarely missed a game.
Roy was a fighter. He beat lung cancer in 2002 and fought a hard battle with black lung disease over the last few years, and especially the final four months of his life. He kept his sense of humor, hard work ethic and positive attitude through the end.
Roy served in numerous callings as a faithful member of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Of all of the things he had in life he was most proud of his kids, their spouses and his grandkids. He and Carol were sealed to their family in February of 1997 in the Manti LDS Temple.
He is survived by his wife Carol; his children: Robbie (Rachel Ludvigson) Hansen, Brittany (Weston) Zabriskie, Landan (McKinzie King) Hansen; his grandkids: Jadelyn, Brady, Kamrie, Raeleigh, Jaxton, Kaden, Lainee, MaKaydee, and baby; siblings: Merlene (Cloyd) Robertson, Carla (Kendal) Wilkins, Wilma Thomas, Terry (Valerie) Hansen. Roy is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Faye; and brother-in-law, Sheldon Thomas.
The family would like to express a special thank you to all the family and friends for their prayers and thoughts in our behalf. We would also like to thank the Manti Ambulance, Gunnison Valley Hospital ER, University of Utah Hospital, and Utah Valley Specialty Hospital for the wonderful care that was given to Roy in his time of need.
