On February 25, 2012, our beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Ross Eugene Edwards, 77, returned to his Father in Heaven, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born July 6, 1934 in Clawson, Utah to Archie Leo Edwards and Julia Emeline Jensen. He married Francis (Nan) Euann Jones on May 28, 1956 in Manti. They were sealed on February 25, 1964 for time and all eternity in the Manti LDS Temple.
He grew up in Clawson Utah and attended Ferron Elementary School and graduated from South Emery High School. He served in the military and learned the value of hard work which he taught his children and grandchildren. He also taught by example the value of dedication and the importance of a job well done.
After returning to Manti he worked in a variety of different jobs including Pacific Trail Sportswear, Manti Temple, and the Turkey Plant. His favorite working experience was the 19 years he spent at the Ephraim Middle School where he enjoyed the interaction with students and staff. He always said that if he had a choice and if his health would have permitted it, he would still be working at the Middle School. In his spare time he would fix anything that had a motor. He loved spending time with his family, they were his greatest joy.
In spite of all his medical issues, he never gave up. He was an excellent example to all that knew him. He had a great love for family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and entertained everyone with his fun stories and how he loved to tease.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Gunnison Valley Hospital and Gunnison Valley Hospice for their caring and compassionate service.
He is survived by his wife Nan, son David (Bonnie) Edwards ; daughter Marla (Blaine) Cook; brother Dale (Beulah) Edwards, Moab; sister, Fern Huntsman, Centerfield; brothers, Rex Edwards, Marvin Edwards, Darwin Edwards, Manti; sister-in-law, Lewana Hale, LaVerkin, UT; brother-in-law, DeRell (Linda) Jones, Manti; sister-in-law, LaRae Crisp, Manti; sister-in-law, Wilma (Larry) Gregersen, Clawson, UT; sister-in-law, Dixie (Kay) Prisbrey, St. George, UT; sister-in-law, Jan (Max) Jensen, Kona Hawaii Mission; sister-in-law , Connie (Butch) DeMill, Manti; brother-in-law, Ron (Sandra) Jones, Page, AZ; sister-in-law, Joy (Ray) Johnson, Manti; brother-in-law, DeLon (Mone) Jones, Farmington, UT; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Archie and Emma Edwards and brother-in-law Franz Huntsman.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 12:00 noon in the Manti 6th Ward Chapel, 295 South Main Street, Manti. Friends and Family may gather from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Manti City Cemetery with Military Honors by the Manti American Legion Post #31.
