Rosalie Peterson
Mayrsvale, Utah
Rosalie Lund Peterson passed away May 24, 2020 in Panguitch, Utah. She was born April 19, 1935 in Marysvale, Utah to Bert Glen and Mary Julia Wilson Lund. She was raised and educated in Marysvale. She enjoyed her time in school. She married Roger Leo Peterson of Glenwood, Utah on December 22, 1953. They later divorced, after having five children. During their marriage, they moved many times around the West due to Roger’s job. She returned to Marysvale in the mid-1980s.
She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings during her lifetime. At the time of her death, Rosalie was serving as ward music director and nursery leader, her two favorite callings. She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Rosalie served her community in many capacities: on the Marysvale Town Board, Six County Senior Citizen Board, and as a docent at the Fremont Indian State Park for over 20 years. She also worked in the Marysvale post office for many years.
Music was very important to Rosalie. As a child she enjoyed going to funerals because she loved the music. She played the piano throughout her life. She had many other interests and loves, including cooking, reading, picnicking, and taking her grandchildren camping. She was never found without a book close by. Rosalie exemplified a great curiosity for life and love of learning.
Rosalie is survived by her children: Julia Lee (Jim) Summers, Bonnie Jo (Warren) Archer, Kathryn Peterson, Katie Sue Peterson, and Rulon William (Lauri) Peterson; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Delma Jukes, Burnet McDonald, Leora Roderick, and Berta Taylor; brothers Bert Glen Lund and Benjamin Lund; and one grandson.
Private family funeral services will be held Friday, May 29, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Maryvale Ward Chapel.
