Ronni Grimlie

Richfield, UT

Ronni Rae Hullinger Grimlie, 63, proud mother and grandmother, passed away November 25, 2020, at the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, with her children at her side, after an extended illness. She was born on July 20, 1957, the seventh, and youngest child, of Orvel and Lela Bigelow Hullinger, in Vernal, Utah. She married Michael Grimlie in 1977, solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, and they had 5 wonderful children. They divorced in 2002, but remained lifelong friends.

Ronni’s life was always centered around her family and kids. In her younger days, she followed Mike as his career took him from Colorado to Wyoming, Nebraska, and back to Utah, finally settling for good in Richfield in 1994. While in Nebraska, she and Mike fostered several teens during those 10 years. Then, after moving back to Utah, she completed her social work degree, which she had paused while helping Mike finish his college degree and then raising her young family. After moving to Richfield, she began working for Utah Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS), as a case worker. It was then that she decided to go back, and get her Masters Degree in social work, and become credentialed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Troubled youth were her focus throughout her career. After earning her LCSW, she went to work at the new youth corrections facility in Richfield, as an observation and assessment counselor and supervisor. In addition to her full time work at youth corrections, she was also the on-call Social Worker at the Sevier Valley Hospital in Richfield, helping patients and their families, often at the most stressful time of their lives. In her spare time, she was a private therapist. Ronni was very ambitious and hardworking and also owned and operated several businesses including Hoovers Restaurant and a taxi business as well.

She loved her kids more than anything—until she had grandkids, whom she loved even more! Ronni took pride in being the cool mom and grandma. She had several "special" recipes, particularly her pancakes and waffles, which were world renowned, but never written down.

She is survived by her children: Christopher (Omika), Chad, Kelli (Kana), Kyle, and Kirsten; 6 grandchildren; and her sisters: Janet (Gene) Gurr, Renee (Brent) Shiner, Saundra Boren and Jolita Hullinger.

Preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Dale and Errol; and granddaughter, Zoe.
