Ronald McGee, 67 of Roy died peacefully in his sleep on February 6, 2014 in Panguitch, Utah. He was born December 18, 1946 to James and Jennie Nielson McGee. He married Peggy Mosher McGee on August 15, 1980 in Ogden.

When Ron was a young child, his aunt, Verdella Nelson was made his guardian and raised him, along with her sister Minnie, and brother Eldon "Fuzz". He always considered Verdella his mother and helped care for her and Minnie in their later years. Ron loved the time he spent growing up in Tropic and it was always his dream to come back home. The family was grateful he was able to spend the last few months there working on his dream home and that he had come home.

Ron spent most of his working years working as a preservation packer at the Defense Depot in Ogden. He retired from the government when DDO closed and worked for the contractor until he retired from them in October of 2012.

Ron’s hobbies were his grandson Christian, fishing with his children and hunting lions with his dog Mike, and Stan Mecham whom he loved like a father. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years Peggy; children: Crystal McGee and Joe McGee; grandson Christian McGee; a brother Mike; sisters: Helen and Dorothy.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved son, David; his aunts: Verdella and Minnie; also two brothers and one sister.

A time to celebrate Ron’s life will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. in the Christian Worship Center, 1821 W. 4000 S. #300 in Roy. A short service will be held there at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Tropic Ward Chapel where friends may call from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Tropic Cemetery.
