Ron Greenhalgh
Annabella, Utah
Our amazing husband, dad, grandpa, mentor, hero and friend passed away September 13, 2022 at his home in Annabella. Ronald Bruce Greenhalgh was born May 5, 1955 to Ronald Deverl and Maralyn Stevens Greenhalgh in Henderson, Nevada. He was later joined by his little brother, Michael, and little sister, Julie Ann.
Ron spent most of his childhood in Henderson, NV. He could usually be found at his dad's speed shop or at the racetrack helping his dad build and race dragsters. Their family moved to Panguitch, UT when he was 12 where he continued his fascination of working on cars. He graduated from Panguitch High School in 1973 and enlisted in the Utah National Guard.
Ron married Jan Hatch and they had 3 children: Eric, Emily and Kerry. They lived in Panguitch, then Richfield. They later divorced.
Ron married Sherilyn Shaw in 1983 and became an instant dad to Nicki. He loved spending time with his wife and children on the lake in the boat or fixing one of the many beater cars he bought them. Ron and Sher loved to spend their time boating and fishing on Lake Powell. The two rarely spent a day apart in their nearly 40 year marriage and lived a life of love and devotion to one another.
He lived a life of service to his country as a member of the Utah National Guard for 41 years where he continued his passion as a mechanic. He was deployed multiple times and received many awards and accolades. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 2015.
Ron also served his community in the Richfield Fire Department for 19 years, serving as Fire Chief many of those years.
Ron influenced and changed the lives of many people whether it be in the guard, as a scout master, or to his family as a son, dad, grandpa and friend. His quiet example of service, compassion, leadership and hard work will be remembered and missed forever.
Ron will be missed by his loving wife Sherilyn; his children: Eric (Rachelle) Greenhalgh, Emily (Robert) Nelson, Kerry (Joel, deceased) Moody, and Nicki (Zach) Jensen. Grandchildren: Winston, Shailynn, Dusty, Dyllan, Logan, Gracie, Dalton and CJ; and great-grandchildren: Erica, Kayzlee, Clark and Henry. His brother Mike and Trudy Greenhalgh; and brothers-in-law, Budd Dodds, Tim and Dixie Shaw; and sisters-in-law, Nan Shaw, Glenna Shaw.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Maralyn Greenhalgh; parents-in-law, Deloy and Helen Shaw; his little sister, Julie Dodds; and his son-in-law, Joel Moody. Also, his brother-in-law Terry Shaw and sister-in-law Melissa Albrecht.
