Roger Howes

Marysvale, Utah

Roger Howes,71, passed away on March 1, 2013 at Sevier Valley Hospital in Richfield, due to complications of cancer. He was born July 26, 1941 in Marysvale to Leon B. "Tony" and DeVere Clark Howes. He spent an idyllic childhood roaming and hunting the beautiful landscapes surrounding Marysvale. He was proud of being on the Marysvale High School state championship basketball team.

After graduation from Marysvale High School, he married Patsy Jolley, later divorced. They share four beautiful daughters. In 1986 he married Nancy Dotson Sisneros. They lived in various parts of the country but settled, in retirement, back in his beloved Marysvale. She preceded him in death in 2011.

Dad was a friend to everyone. He could spin a story like no other and was, "The Wizard" of card tricks! He loved rock hounding, prospecting, hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Dad had many occupations over the years, most notably that of being an uranium miner. He also served as the Marysvale Town marshal and was an EMT/instructor. In the 70‘s, Dad traveled to Texas and drove back in Piute County’s first state-of-the-art "standing room" ambulance. He also worked with his father running the family owned Chevron service station.

Roger is survived by his daughters: Alesa Ackerman, Marysvale; Laurie Long, Lindon; Lynda Smith, Orangevale, CA; and Alayne Young (Gaylon Baker), Roseville, CA; step-children: Malinda (Joe) Medler; Dale (Kristen) Sisneros, both of Beaver; Kathy (Roger) Vigil, NM; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; brothers: Fred (Marion), St. George; and Steve (Kathie), Marysvale. Dad shared with Nancy seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was the best grandpa anyone could ask for! He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; and his favorite dog, Squeaker.
The family wishes to thank those who have helped and aided Roger. We especially would like to thank Debbie for the love, care and friendship that she has provided to our family members and Dad over the years.

Cremation services have been held. Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, 50 South 100 West, in Richfield. Where friends may call from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Marysvale Cemetery.
