Roger Louis Allred, 81, passed away Monday, May 27, 2019, at home, with loving family at his side. Born June 27, 1937 in Emery, Utah to Harvey and Berniece Lutella Allred. Later moved to Salt Lake City where he met his sweetheart, Hattie LaPearl Peterson. They married April 28, 1961. Solemnized in the Manti, Utah Temple August 26, 1986. Hattie preceded him in death June 14, 2018. He has missed her deeply and has been longing to go and be with her since her passing.
Roger worked 35 years for Mountain Fuel Supply Company, retiring in St. George in 1991. His passion for sports of all kinds continued until his last day, when he was observed viewing the televised NCAA golf championship. Roger had many fond memories of growing up in Emery, working on the farm. He especially enjoyed playing on various high school sports teams. He served two years in the US Army, spending time in Germany during construction of the Berlin Wall.
Survived by children: Danny (Maryann) Stevens and Tami (Frank) Hanson; daughter-in-law, Sandy Stevens; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife, Hattie LaPearl; son, Gary Stevens; granddaughter, Krystal Stevens Randolph; brother, Harvey Bland; and sisters: Betty Jean and JoAnn.
Graveside service and burial will be conducted at the Manti Cemetery on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 1:00 pm. with military honors by the American Legion Post #31. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
