Rodney Stevens
Salt Lake City, Utah
Rodney Stevens, 45, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, returned to his Heavenly Father on August 8, 2020 in Salt Lake City. Rodney was born October 16, 1974 in Salt Lake City to Victor John and Dianne Cook Stevens and was raised in Sandy where he was an excellent student and a gifted athlete. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, music, basketball, football and stamp and coin collecting. He also loved playing Monopoly and other board games with his friends at the John Taylor House in Salt Lake. Though his later years were met with crippling mental illness and addiction, Rodney truly was a noble, dignified and valiant spirit. Anything Rodney had, he shared with his friends and strangers. He loved people and appreciated and longed for friendship. Rodney loved his family deeply and expressed it often through his many kind and caring gestures. At the end of every conversation with his younger brother, Marty, Rodney would always say "Please make sure to tell Meg and the kids I said hi". His heart was generous, gentle and giving. He was thoughtful and loving and shared a beautiful and special bond with his mom, who he continuously expressed love and concern for and spoke with daily. Rodney’s kindness, thoughtfulness, love and gentle heart has forever blessed our lives. We will miss him dearly but find comfort in the atonement of Jesus Christ and His promises of eternal life and eternal families. We love you Rodney!
Rodney is survived by his mom, Dianne Stevens, Monroe; siblings: Jeff Stevens, Monroe; Trudy Stevens, Ruskin, FL; Marty (Meggie) Stevens, Sandy; six nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by father, Victor Stevens; brother, Scott Stevens; and an older brother who passed away at birth.
